
MD in Acupuncture is a 2-year long postgraduate course in medicine, minimum eligibility for pursuing which is any of M.B.B.S., B.D.S., D.M.S., D.H.M.S., B.H.M.S etc. The program offers to eligible candidates, a comprehensive understanding of the classical and theoretical foundations of the fields of Acupuncture and Oriental medicine, with focus on the Constitutional Five Element Acupuncture tradition and the Eight Principle treatment strategies. It aims to introduce students to Biomedicine from an integrative and holistic perspective, as needed for the practice of Acupuncture and Oriental medicine. The average tuition fee charged for the course in India ranges between INR 25,000 and 2 Lacs. Admission to the course is based on the candidate’s rank in the (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) NEET.Such postgraduates are hired in capacities such as Acupuncture Consultants, Massage Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants & Aides, Chiropractors and Healthcare Diagnosing and Treating Practitioners etc. They are hired in industries such as healthcare, including hospitals, physician practices, integrative healthcare clinics, public health clinics, college health centers, natural apothecaries, and in settings that care for military veterans.
